Ruf CTR 3 Evo: Unleashing Unprecedented Power
【Summary】German tuner Ruf has introduced the CTR 3 Evo, its most powerful production car yet. The mid-engined sports car features a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. The body is made from a lightweight Kevlar-composite material, and the car comes with suspension upgrades, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a track-ready lubrication system.
German manufacturer Ruf has recently unveiled its most powerful car yet, the CTR 3 Evo. This new model was showcased at Monterey Car Week and is a completely redesigned and upgraded version of the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport.
The CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine, generating an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. This is an increase of 23bhp and 8lb ft compared to the Clubsport model. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.
While the car pictured comes with Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it is worth noting that the Clubsport can also be fitted with a six-speed manual. Therefore, it is possible that the Evo might also offer this option.
The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed using a Kevlar-composite material, similar to the one used in the Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material is known for its lightweight properties, strength, and heat resistance.
Although the exact top speed and 0-62mph time of the Evo are not yet known, it is expected to be faster than the Clubsport, which can reach a top speed of 236mph and accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
Aside from engine tuning, the CTR 3 Evo also features upgrades to its suspension system, including modifications to the MacPherson-strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. Carbon-ceramic brakes and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system, similar to those found in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06, are also included.
Inside the CTR 3 Evo, you'll find one-piece body-hugging sports seats made from carbonfibre and upholstered in Alcantara with yellow stitching for a stylish contrast.
Customers interested in purchasing the CTR 3 Evo can expect a price tag of more than $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the Ferrari SF90, both of which are similarly positioned and potent.
