Serbia's EV Production Gets Boost from FCA

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Serbia is set to begin production of a new car model at its factory in Kragujevac in the third quarter of 2024, as reported by local media. The preparatory works for production are progressing smoothly, and the company is already considering new "personnel solutions," according to Sasa Djordjevic, the president of the independent trade union at the Fiat factory.

According to Radio Television Kragujevac (RTK), an electric car model, which is expected to be produced in Kragujevac, is scheduled to roll off the production line by the end of 2024. This aligns with previous reports from local media that the electric version of Citroen's C3 model will be manufactured in Serbia.

In April 2022, Stellantis and Serbia signed a deal to jointly invest EUR190m (US$207.8m) in the production of electric vehicles in Kragujevac. FCA currently owns 67% of the share capital of FCA Serbia, while the government holds the remaining shares.
