Tesla is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its first Supercharger station in Europe by offering free charging to all electric vehicle owners. This initiative is not limited to Tesla owners and will be available on August 29th from 8am until the end of the day, with the latest charging time being 10.59pm.

The first Supercharger station in Europe was opened in Norway on August 29, 2013. Over the past decade, the Supercharger network has grown to include over a thousand sites and 13,000 individual Superchargers across 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Tesla claims that its Supercharger network is the largest ultra-fast charging network in Europe, with more than 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations that accept all electric vehicles. The company sees the one-day free charging initiative as a way to thank the Tesla community for their contributions in making the Supercharger network the largest and most reliable fast charging network in Europe.

This event also coincides with the recent launch of the V4 Supercharger in the UK, which is compatible with all electric vehicles that have CCS compatibility. The first V4 Supercharger is located at the Tesla Centre Tottenham and features a three-meter charging cable and a contactless card payment terminal.

Tesla aims to expand the accessibility of its Supercharger network to all electric vehicle owners. With over 70% of the network now open to all EVs, the company sees this as an opportunity for drivers of different electric car brands to experience the network and have more charging options.

James Court, CEO of Electric Vehicles Association, expressed excitement about the rollout of the new V4 Superchargers and the increasing accessibility of existing sites to all electric vehicles in the UK. Decarbonisation Minister Jesse Norman also praised Tesla's investment in EV charging infrastructure, emphasizing that private investment will play a crucial role in the transition to a greener economy.
