【Summary】Tesla is offering free charging for all electric vehicles today to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Supercharger network in Europe. All EV owners, not just Tesla owners, can charge their cars for free on August 29th from 8am to the end of the day. Tesla's Supercharger network is the largest ultra-fast charging network in Europe, with over 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations currently accepting all EVs.
Tesla is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its first Supercharger station in Europe by offering free charging to all electric vehicle owners. This initiative is not limited to Tesla owners and is available to all EV owners on August 29th from 8am until the end of the day. However, it is important to note that charging must start by 10.59pm.
The first Supercharger station in Europe was opened in Norway on August 29, 2013. Since then, Tesla's Supercharger network has expanded to 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with over a thousand sites and 13,000 individual Superchargers. With more than 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations currently accepting all EVs, Tesla claims to have the largest ultra-fast charging network in Europe.
Tesla's one-day-only free charging initiative is part of its 'electric summer' celebrations and a way to show appreciation to the Tesla community for their contribution to making the Supercharger network the largest and most reliable fast charging network in Europe. This initiative also provides an opportunity for all EV drivers to test the network and expand their charging options, as over 70% of the network is now open to all EVs.
In addition to the free charging offer, Tesla recently launched its latest V4 Supercharger in the UK. The V4 Supercharger, located at the Tesla Centre Tottenham, is designed for all electric vehicles with CCS compatibility. It features a three-meter charging cable and a contactless card payment terminal, allowing non-Tesla owners to enjoy the benefits of the Tesla Supercharger network.
James Court, CEO of the Electric Vehicles Association, expressed excitement about the rollout of the new V4 Superchargers and the opening up of existing sites to all electric vehicles in the UK. He believes that this expansion will greatly benefit all EV drivers in terms of coverage and reliability.
Decarbonisation Minister Jesse Norman praised Tesla's investment in EV charging and infrastructure, stating that it is a key part of the UK's transition to a green economy. He emphasized the government's efforts to make owning an electric vehicle easier, including new regulations to improve the ease of charging. However, he acknowledged that private investment, such as Tesla's, will ultimately make a significant difference.
