Tiguan now open for orders in Europe

The third generation of the compact SUV, the all-new Tiguan, has been developed and designed from scratch. Pre-sales for the Tiguan have started in Europe, featuring various improvements and enhancements. One notable improvement is the introduction of new hybrid drives with an all-electric range of approximately 100 km, making the SUV more efficient than ever. The cockpit of the Tiguan has also been redesigned to offer a more intuitive and digital experience, with new services and apps. The latest Park Assist technology automates parking, while the new adaptive running gear DCC Pro optimizes both comfort and dynamics. Additionally, features such as the pneumatic massage function for the front seats and the IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights have been inspired by the premium Touareg model. The Tiguan will be available in its basic version with a 96 kW (130 PS) 48 V mild hybrid drive, starting at 36,600 euros (in Germany).

The design of the all-new Tiguan is a confident evolution of its predecessor. It retains the typical Tiguan and Volkswagen design language but introduces new elements. The front end has been raised and has a more powerful appearance, with integrated standard LED headlights. The traditional radiator grille has been replaced by a glass-covered horizontal bar, optionally featuring an integrated LED strip. The Tiguan also offers the new IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, derived from the Touareg, which consists of 38,400 multi-pixel LEDs. The overall design showcases improved aerodynamics, with a reduced drag coefficient from 0.33 to 0.28. The silhouette is defined by athletic shoulder sections above the wheel housings, and the rear end is emphasized by a horizontal LED strip between the tail light clusters.

Volkswagen has completely redesigned the interior of the Tiguan, taking into account customer feedback. The new interior features high-quality materials and a high finish standard, breaking conventional class boundaries. The latest modular infotainment matrix (MIB4) components are integrated into the cockpit, creating a well-designed and intuitive layout. The components include the new Digital Cockpit, a large infotainment screen with a new menu structure and graphics, a head-up display, and a multifunction driving experience switch with an integrated OLED display. The new IDA voice assistant allows for easy operation of various vehicle functions using natural language. The Tiguan will be available with eight different drive systems, including mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, turbocharged petrol, and turbocharged diesel options. The eTSI drives, available at launch, deliver outputs of 96 kW (130 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS) and feature automatic Active Cylinder Management. The Tiguan can also be configured with a TDI engine delivering 110 kW (150 PS). Other drive versions, including plug-in hybrids with an all-electric range of around 100 km, will be introduced in 2024. All Tiguan models come with an automatic direct shift gearbox (DSG) as standard.

The new Tiguan offers optional ergoActive Plus seats with pneumatic four-way lumbar adjustment and a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure massage function, providing comfort for long journeys. The seats also come with automatic seat heating and seat ventilation, which activate depending on the outside temperature.

The Tiguan is available in four equipment versions: Tiguan, Life, Elegance, and R-Line. The basic Tiguan version comes with standard features such as the new Digital Cockpit, infotainment system, driving experience switch, Car2X warning system, one-zone Climatronic, USB-C ports, black roof rails, and assist systems like Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Rear View, and Dynamic Road Sign Display. The Life version adds features like three-zone Climatronic, comfort seats, variable luggage compartment floor, Park Assist Plus, ACC, Light Assist, App Connect, electrically folding exterior mirrors, and side surround lighting. The Elegance and R-Line versions offer additional equipment details such as LED Plus headlights, background lighting package, ergoActive front seats with massage function, electrically opening and closing boot lid, silver-colored roof rails, acoustic windows with tinted glass, and various alloy wheel designs.
