Totem GT Super: Alfa 105-series comeback with powerful V6 engine
【Summary】Italian firm Totem has created its own version of a 105 coupe called the Totem GT, which will debut in the UK. Originally planned as an electric model, it has now spawned a petrol-powered V6 variant called the Totem GT Super. This model features a bespoke 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 592 horsepower, which can be upgraded to produce 740 horsepower with a stage 2 performance package. The car weighs just 1180kg, suggesting it will have impressive performance.
Alfa Romeo's 105-series cars have long been admired for their beautiful design and solid engineering. Companies like Alfaholics have taken advantage of this by creating stunning restomods, such as the popular GTA-R. However, with a nine-year waiting list for the GTA-R, there is now room for a new contender in the market: Totem. Totem has introduced their own version of the 105 coupe, called the Totem GT, which will be showcased in the UK at Salon Privé.
Originally planned as an electric classic car, the Totem GT has evolved to include a petrol-powered V6 model. Despite this change, the design language and chassis remain consistent. The Totem GT features a custom wide-body carbon fiber exterior, with very few components carried over from the original Alfa GT Junior. Totem combines the bulkhead of the GT Junior with a new carbon fiber chassis and steel subframes, resulting in a more advanced layout compared to the GT Junior's unibody chassis and solid rear axle design.
The V6-powered variant of the Totem GT is known as the Totem GT Super. It boasts a bespoke dry-sumped 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, delivering an impressive 592 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The engine has a redline of 7500rpm and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox located at the rear axle. For those seeking even more power, Totem offers a stage 2 performance package with a supercharger and an increased rev limit of 8500rpm. This setup boosts the engine output to a staggering 740 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. Although official performance figures have not been released, it is expected that the lightweight GT Super, weighing just 1180kg, will rival supercars in terms of speed and agility.
