Toyota assembly lines in Japan halt production due to computer glitch

TOKYO — Toyota's operations in Japan have been disrupted as all 28 vehicle assembly lines at its 14 auto plants were shut down on Tuesday. The shutdown was a result of a problem in the computer system that handles incoming auto parts. Although the cause of the issue is still being investigated, the automaker has stated that it does not believe it was caused by a cyberattack.

According to Toyota spokeswoman Sawako Takeda, it remains uncertain when the production lines will resume their operations. The company is working diligently to identify and resolve the problem as quickly as possible. The temporary shutdown is expected to impact Toyota's production and delivery schedules.
