UK prices for powerful Hyundai Ioniq 5 N confirmed

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is an intriguing electric hot hatch that combines all the essential elements of a great one. It boasts a stiffer body, improved suspension, more power, and exciting features like the N e-shift, N Grin Boost, and N Drift Optimiser. With its impressive 650hp, the Ioniq 5 N is a driver-focused EV that is sure to excite enthusiasts.

In the UK, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will be priced at £65,000, which aligns with the original estimates. Buyers will also receive additional features such as Hyundai's updated CCnC navigation with faster processing, wireless phone mirroring, a head-up display with N-specific layouts, 21-inch wheels, Pirelli P Zero tyres, and the N bodykit. Alongside these, the Ioniq 5 N comes with the standard kit found in an Ioniq 5, including active safety features, large screens, and multiple charge ports.

Contrary to the common perception, the Ioniq 5 N will be available in colors other than gloss Performance Blue. Matte Performance Blue is one option, and there are seven others to choose from: pearl Abyss Black, Atlas White (matte and gloss), Ecotronic Grey (pearl and matte), metallic Cyber Grey, and Soultronic Orange. While the standard paint color is Soultronic Orange, the other metallic, pearl, and gloss shades can be chosen for an additional cost.

Aside from the paint, there isn't much else to add to the £65,000 price of the Ioniq 5 N. The only other available option is the £1,250 Vision Roof. Therefore, the maximum price for this model in the UK is £67,135. Although it may seem expensive for a Hyundai, it is a reasonable price for a car with 650hp.

When comparing the Ioniq 5 N to its conventional hot hatch rivals, the closest competitor is the Mercedes-AMG A45 S, priced at £63,285. However, the Ioniq 5 N offers a different driving experience. Additionally, Hyundai's sister brands, Genesis and Kia, offer alternatives with similar components. The EV6 GT from Kia is priced at £62,645, and the Genesis GV60 with a dual-motor setup starts at £67,705. As for other driver-focused EVs, the BMW i4 M50 is in a similar ballpark, with an OTR price of £71,085.

Ashley Andrew, Hyundai UK's President, expressed excitement about the Ioniq 5 N, stating that it is the first EV designed for driving enthusiasts. He emphasized the combination of high performance, precision handling, and state-of-the-art technology that creates an emotional connection lacking in other performance EVs. Andrew highlighted the Ioniq 5 N's ability to provide a driver-centric driving experience while also offering a quiet, comfortable, and efficient zero-emission family SUV when desired.

With its impressive features and performance, let's hope the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N lives up to its promises and justifies its asking price.
