Global robot deal with Volvo Cars

Leading automation supplier Fanuc has recently entered into a contract with Volvo Cars to provide industrial robots for the automotive manufacturer's plants worldwide. This includes Volvo's upcoming battery production facilities in Europe, Asia, and America. The initial phase of the agreement involves the supply of over 700 robots to a new manufacturing site in Kosice, Slovakia. Volvo Cars anticipates that the first vehicles will be produced at this site by 2026. As part of the same phase, Fanuc will also supply robots to Volvo's sites in Ghent, Belgium, and China.
Marco Ghirardello, president and CEO of Fanuc Europe, expressed pride in being chosen as Volvo Cars' long-term partner in factory automation. He stated, "We are proud that we will now shape the future of the automotive industry together." Volvo Cars has set ambitious goals of producing only electric vehicles from 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. The new manufacturing facility in Slovakia, which will exclusively produce electric vehicles, plays a crucial role in Volvo's sustainability efforts. Fanuc is delighted to contribute to these sustainability credentials.
Ralf Völlinger, Fanuc Europe's general manager of the robot business division, emphasized the advantages of Fanuc's robots, such as their low energy consumption, durability, and unlimited maintenance.
