Ford Motor Co.'s F-150 Lightning, one of the electric vehicles being developed in Detroit, has received praise for its contribution to addressing climate change. However, it requires more energy to recharge compared to smaller vehicles.

In the U.K., the most searched used car is the Kia Sportage, with over 33,970 searches on Google each year. This high demand highlights the popularity of this South Korean SUV. The Nissan Qashqai and Ford Fiesta come in second and third place, respectively.

A comprehensive assessment was conducted to determine the most popular used car models in the U.K. The study focused on 29 popular car brands, considering the top five most searched-for models for each brand. This resulted in a total of 145 car models. Yearly Google search data was collected and ranked for each model.

According to a review by car finance refund firm Undisclosed.co.uk, Ford is the most searched-for car brand in the U.K. Audi and BMW follow closely behind. The review evaluated the number of yearly searches for the 145 models of used cars across 29 brands.

The Kia Sportage, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is also the most Googled used car in 38 out of 58 analyzed cities in the UK. This includes cities like Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool.

The Nissan Qashqai takes second place with 29,230 searches for 'used Nissan Qashqai' across the UK each year. This Japanese car is the most searched-for used car in eight analyzed cities, including Leicester, Newcastle, and Portsmouth. The newest Qashqai model in Europe features Nissan's e-POWER technology, aimed at reducing emissions.

Coming in third place is the Ford Fiesta, with approximately 28,380 searches each year for 'used Ford Fiesta.' Despite production of this model ceasing in July of this year, after 47 years and eight generations, it remains a popular choice in the used car market due to its reliability.

As of Q4 2022, the Ford Fiesta was the most registered car on UK roads, according to data from the U.K. government. The BMW 1 Series secures the fourth spot with around 23,640 yearly searches. This German car model, part of the BMW group, appears in the top five used car searches for Derby, Southampton, and Manchester.

The Audi A1 takes fifth place with approximately 22,870 yearly searches dedicated to 'used Audi A1.' The German car company's reputation for quality, combined with the A1's compact and premium appeal, has made it a favorite among UK drivers.

In sixth place is the Volvo XC40, with approximately 21,610 searches each year. This demonstrates the Swedish car company's ability to create a desirable compact SUV.

The Ford Focus secures seventh place with 21,110 yearly searches. Following closely in eighth place is the Audi A3, drawing in approximately 20,630 searches per year. The VW Golf takes the ninth spot with 19,490 searches each year.

Rounding out the top ten most searched-for used cars is the Volvo XC90, with 17,920 searches for 'used Volvo XC90' each year. This large SUV model from the Swedish car company continues to capture the interest of many used car searchers in the UK.
