Electric motorcycles have made significant advancements in terms of acceleration, speed, and towing capacity. However, they have traditionally lagged behind their ICE-bike counterparts when it comes to range. This is about to change with the upcoming launch of the 2024 Evoke 6061-GT electric motorcycle, which is set to make its debut in North America.

Evoke Motorcycles, a company based in Beijing, has been manufacturing urban-oriented naked bikes with a focus on sporty commuter designs for several years. In 2020, they entered the cruiser market with their original 6061 design, which featured an innovative twin-plate aluminum exo-frame.

Unlike most electric roadsters and sportbikes that have a tighter-tucked seating position, the Evoke 6061 offered a relaxed cruiser frame, filling a void in the industry. Now, the 2024 version of the motorcycle, designed for the North American market, is receiving several updates, including a massive battery pack for extended touring range.

The new 2024 Evoke 6061-GT is equipped with a 30 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive range of up to 660 km (410 miles) per charge. This figure is referred to as the "city range" and is usually calculated based on an average speed of 50 km/h (31 mph) commonly seen in urban areas. This range surpasses that of many current longest-range electric motorcycles.

For mixed riding conditions, the Evoke 6061-GT offers a range of 497 km (308 miles), while highway speeds are estimated to achieve 335 km (205 miles) of range. The motorcycle is powered by a 90 kW (120 hp) motor with 206 Nm (152 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 230 km/h (140 mph). However, it's worth noting that cruising at speeds over 100 mph may affect the highway range.

The 2024 6061-GT model features updated exterior fairings that partially conceal the aluminum exo-frame, a lighter and more energy-dense axial flux motor, and wider tires. Additionally, the motorcycle is equipped with a fast charging system that can recharge the battery to 80% in just 30 minutes using a DC fast charging station.

Nathan Siy, the CEO of Evoke Motorcycles, explained that the combination of fast charging capability and a large battery is designed to cater to long-range riders who enjoy motorcycle touring. The 6061-GT aims to bring electrification to the open road, offering an exhilarating riding experience, impressive range, and ample power.

Interested riders in the US and Canada can already place an order for the Evoke 6061-GT, although shipping is scheduled to begin in April 2024. The current price is set at US $24,995, which aligns with other long-range electric motorcycle models available from leading manufacturers like Energica.

Evoke Motorcycles also announced that European orders will commence in early 2024 for selected regions, although specific details regarding the countries have not yet been provided. This unveiling of the 6061-GT comes shortly after Evoke showcased a new electric dirt bike, demonstrating their commitment to expanding their electric motorcycle lineup.
