Vertu Motors has generously matched the funding of a colleague for the Headlight Project. Flynn Elliott, a service advisor at Vertu Teesside BMW, and his mother, Jo Elliott, an employee of Wander Films, recently embarked on a challenging 12-mile night-time hike. The purpose of their journey was to symbolically walk from the Dark into the Light, all in support of the Headlight Project and The Teesside Charity.

The main goal of Flynn and Jo's hike was to raise awareness and vital funds for mental health causes. Through their efforts, they have managed to raise over £750 for The Teesside Charity and the Headlight Project. These two organizations are dedicated to promoting mental health initiatives in the region. In a show of support, Vertu Motors has agreed to match the funds raised, further amplifying the impact of Flynn and Jo's endeavors.

The motivation behind Flynn and Jo's determination to take on this unique challenge stems from their personal experiences with the harsh realities of mental health struggles. In 2019, at the age of 15, Flynn tragically lost his best friend's 17-year-old sister to suicide. Witnessing the profound impact this had on his friend and their family, Flynn became resolute in his desire to make a difference and shed light on mental health issues.

A year later, Jo experienced her own heartbreaking loss when one of her oldest friends took their own life. Fueled by their personal encounters with these tragedies, Flynn and Jo made a vow to help break the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

Robert Forrester, the chief executive of Vertu Motors, commended Flynn and Jo for their commitment to raising awareness for mental health and suicide. He expressed hope that their initiative to take on this challenging hike would bring hope and support to those who may be silently struggling. Vertu Motors is proud to support Flynn and Jo in their cause and will continue to champion mental health awareness.

Flynn Elliott shared, "I have personally witnessed the pain that mental health struggles can inflict on individuals and families. It was crucial for me and Mum to step forward, to be part of the solution, and help create a more supportive environment for those in need. We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from Robert, my colleagues here at Vertu Teesside BMW, and the many others who have kindly donated."
