Volkswagen Group, which includes brands such as Audi, Skoda, and Porsche, has achieved a significant milestone by delivering over half a million electric vehicles in the first nine months of 2023. This push towards electric vehicles is in line with the company's commitment to achieving a net carbon-neutral balance by 2050.
The increase in electric vehicle deliveries has resulted in electric vehicles accounting for 7.9% of Volkswagen's total deliveries, up from 6.1% in 2022. Europe has been the key growth driver, with a 61% increase in electric vehicle deliveries, reaching 341,100 vehicles. In America, electric vehicle deliveries grew by 74% to 50,300 units.

However, Wortmann acknowledged that the European market still exhibits some reluctance towards buying battery-powered vehicles, resulting in lower-than-expected order intake.
