Volkswagen ID. Buzz GTX caught during testing

Volkswagen is set to unveil a high-end all-wheel drive variant of its ID. Buzz electric van, which will be called the GTX. This model will join the ID.4 GTX and will feature a dual-motor powertrain, giving it a sportier appearance.

New spy shots reveal that the GTX will have a redesigned front bumper, along with unique wheel design, GTX badging, and exclusive color options. These changes will help differentiate the flagship ID. Buzz GTX from the other versions.

A close-up image of the ID. Buzz GTX's steering wheel has already been shown during a VW investor presentation. Interestingly, it is the same steering wheel used in the brand's other MEB platform GTX models, namely the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX.

Not only will the steering wheel be similar, but the ID. Buzz GTX will also share a 77kWh battery with VW's other GTX offerings. However, the power output is expected to increase from 201bhp to 295bhp, while torque will remain at 310Nm. Unlike the standard ID. Buzz, which is rear-wheel drive, the GTX will have a four-wheel-drive system, similar to the ID.5 GTX.

The performance of the ID. Buzz GTX is expected to be significantly better than the regular model, with a faster 0-62mph time and potentially an increased top speed. However, the range of the vehicle is likely to be affected due to the additional power and weight of the front electric motor.

Charging the GTX should not be a problem, as it will have the same battery as other ID. Buzz variants. It is expected to support 170kW charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 5 to 80 percent capacity in just 30 minutes.

As the top-of-the-line trim level in Volkswagen's all-electric lineup, the ID. Buzz GTX is expected to come equipped with all the features found in the current top-spec 1st Edition model, including 21-inch wheels and a 12-inch touchscreen.

The ID. Buzz GTX is set to join the ID. Buzz lineup in 2023, with pricing details to be announced later in the year.
