Volkswagen's Next Year Release: All-Electric ID.7 Tourer Station Wagon

Volvo made headlines earlier this year when it announced that it would discontinue its saloon and estate models to focus solely on SUVs. However, if you prefer the classic station wagon style, Volkswagen has a solution for you. The company has revealed plans to introduce the ID.7 Tourer next year, which will offer spacious trunk space.

The ID.7 Tourer is still under heavy camouflage, but Volkswagen claims that it will provide 545 liters of storage space with five passengers inside, or a massive 1,714 liters when the rear seats are folded flat. While the performance and electric range have not been confirmed yet, the Tourer will be based on the ID.7 saloon, which boasts a range of 435 miles on a single charge with a larger battery.

Volkswagen has cleverly disguised the ID.7 Tourer with camouflage foiling that mimics the multi-layer paint of the ID.7 saloon. The rear of the car features QR codes that seamlessly blend in with the covering, possibly providing extra information about the upcoming model.

The news of the ID.7 Tourer is exciting for those who want ample storage space without the bulkiness of an SUV. This elongated station wagon could be a compelling choice for potential buyers who are looking for more variety in the EV market. Additionally, BMW has confirmed the introduction of an i5 Touring model to its electric lineup, and there are hints of a high-performance M-Division model. This raises the question of whether Audi and Volvo will also follow suit and introduce their own electric estate cars.
