Fiat is set to make a comeback with the release of a new Fiat Panda, potentially arriving in mid-2024. Exclusive renders of the car show a minimalistic design with a focus on affordability. Fiat aims to compete with budget-friendly rivals Dacia, Hyundai, and Kia in the small car market.
The new Fiat Panda may be inspired by the Centoventi concept car unveiled in 2019. Fiat has hinted at the possibility of an electric version of the Panda to rival Dacia's affordable EV, the Spring. However, petrol versions of the Panda could also be available, utilizing the 1.2-litre PureTech engine used in other Stellantis cars.
Fiat has not confirmed whether other iconic small Fiat models like the Punto, Tipo, and Uno will make a return, but they have not ruled out having multiple models in the B-segment. The upcoming Fiat models will be between 3.6 and 4.5 meters long and will offer the extra Italian flair that sets them apart from their competitors.
Fiat CEO Olivier Francois emphasized the brand's focus on simplicity, joy, and Italian design. The company aims to bring back the joy of owning a simple car made by Italians. As part of the Stellantis Group, Fiat can leverage a wider range of platforms and parts to keep costs down. While features like swappable batteries from the Centoventi Concept are unlikely to be included, simplicity will be a key aspect of the new Fiat Panda.
