Fiat is set to make a comeback with the release of an all-new Fiat Panda, potentially arriving in mid-2024. Exclusive renders give us a glimpse of what the new model could look like. After years of underinvestment, Fiat has recently unveiled new models such as the retro-inspired 600e electric crossover and the Topolino quadricycle. On its 125th birthday, Fiat plans to unveil more affordable cars to compete with budget-friendly rivals Dacia and Hyundai and Kia's city cars. The new model could be inspired by the minimalistic Centoventi concept car.
While Fiat has not confirmed the return of other iconic small Fiat names like the Punto, Tipo, and Uno, it hasn't ruled out having multiple models in the B-segment. The upcoming models will be between 3.6 and 4.5 meters long, offering the extra Italian flair that sets them apart from Dacia. Fiat CEO Olivier Francois stated that they aim to create something simple, cool, and joyful, drawing design cues from the Panda and the 1980s. As part of the Stellantis Group, Fiat can utilize a wider range of platforms and parts to keep costs down.
Although extravagant features from the Centoventi Concept, such as swappable batteries, are unlikely to be included, simplicity will be a key aspect of the new Fiat Panda. Whether in petrol or electric form, the Panda's position as a small, affordable, and practical car is expected to make a strong comeback. Fiat will aim to compete with Dacia's affordable EV, the Spring, by offering a rival cheap EV. Entry-level models may also feature petrol versions, potentially using the 1.2-litre PureTech unit found in Peugeot and Citroen cars under the Stellantis mothership.
