2025 Mini Countryman: 3 Important Updates

The third-generation Mini Countryman has undergone significant changes compared to its predecessors. The exterior has received a radical makeover, giving it a fresh and modern look. One of the biggest updates is the introduction of two fully electric variants, the Countryman E and Countryman SE. These electric models offer different power and torque specifications, catering to different preferences and budgets.

In terms of size, the new Countryman has a larger body, resulting in a more spacious interior. There is increased shoulder room for both front and rear passengers, allowing for a more comfortable ride. The trunk has also been slightly enlarged, providing additional cargo space. The interior design has been upgraded to a more upmarket and minimalistic style, with a central 9.4-inch circular screen reminiscent of classic Mini models.

The Countryman now offers advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems, including autonomous lane changes and hands-free driving on certain roads. The all-new Mini Countryman, set to enter production in November 2023 and go on sale in 2024, shares its mechanical components with the BMW X1. While it shares similar specifications with the X1, the Countryman is targeted towards buyers with different aesthetic tastes.

Both models are equipped with a 64.7 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP range of 287 miles for the front-wheel drive model and 269 miles for the all-wheel drive model.

The new Countryman has grown in size compared to its predecessor. It is 5 inches longer, 2.4 inches taller, and slightly wider. This increase in dimensions allows for more interior space, with 1.2 inches of additional shoulder room in the front and 1 inch more in the rear. The trunk has also been slightly enlarged, and the rear bench can be slid to prioritize either cargo room or legroom for rear passengers. The interior design has been upgraded to a more upmarket and minimalist style, featuring a central 9.4-inch circular screen as the main focal point.

Mini has equipped the new Countryman with advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems. In addition to maintaining speed and distance from the vehicle in front, the car is capable of making autonomous lane changes when approaching a highway exit. It can also provide hands-free driving on certain roads at speeds of up to 37 mph. The automatic parking system has been improved for better convenience. The Countryman also boasts enhanced mood lighting and the option for adaptive dampers, providing a more comfortable and enjoyable driving experience.

With its extensive updates, the Mini Countryman faces tough competition in the market, particularly in its fully electric guise. The increase in size and repositioning of the model also means it will likely come with a higher price tag. Additionally, the electric Countryman SE will be competing against formidable rivals like the Tesla Model Y, making it a challenging task for Mini to establish its presence in the modern automotive industry.
