2025 Mini Countryman: 3 Important Updates
【Summary】The all-new 2025 Mini Countryman has three key changes: it now offers two fully electric variants, the Countryman E and Countryman SE; it has a larger body, providing a roomier interior with increased shoulder room and a slightly bigger trunk; and it offers advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems, improved automatic parking, enhanced mood lighting, and the option for adaptive dampers for a more controlled ride.
The third-generation Mini Countryman has undergone significant changes, including two fully electric variants, a larger body, and an upgraded interior. The Countryman E and Countryman SE are the electric options, with different power and torque specifications. The E model has a single electric motor and produces 201 horsepower and 184.4 pound-feet of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 8.6 seconds. The SE model, on the other hand, has dual motors, generating 308 horsepower and 364.4 pound-feet of torque. It has a faster acceleration time of 5.6 seconds from 0 to 62 mph. Both models feature a 64.7 kWh battery pack with a WLTP range of 287 miles and 269 miles for the front-wheel and all-wheel drive models, respectively.
In terms of design, the new Countryman has a larger body, providing a more spacious interior with increased shoulder room and a slightly bigger trunk. The interior has a more upscale and minimalist design, with a single 9.4-inch circular screen in the center of the dashboard. The vehicle also offers advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems, improved automatic parking, enhanced mood lighting, and the option for adaptive dampers for a more controlled ride.
The third-generation Mini Countryman shares its mechanical components with the BMW X1 and is aimed at buyers with different aesthetic preferences. It will enter production in November 2023 and be available for sale in 2024.
In terms of technology, the Countryman offers advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems, including autonomous lane changes and hands-free driving on certain roads at speeds of up to 37 mph. The automatic parking system has also been improved. The interior features mood lighting with LED-backlit panels and a wide range of colors. Optional frequency-selective adaptive dampers are available for a more controlled ride.
With its larger size and repositioning as a model one size class above the previous generation, the Mini Countryman faces tough competition, especially in the fully electric segment. It will also likely have a higher price point. Going up against rivals like the Tesla Model Y will be a challenge, as it is considered one of the toughest competitors in the automotive industry.
