2025 Toyota Camry gets a sneak peek with new hybrid system

The Toyota RAV4 may be the best-selling Toyota in the United States, but the Japanese brand is not neglecting its second best-seller, the Camry. The popular sedan is set to enter a new generation, and a preview image gives us a sneak peek at what's to come.

The preview image released by Toyota doesn't reveal much about the new Camry's design. It only shows a portion of the trunk lid with a horizontal piece of trim, possibly displaying the "CAMRY" lettering. The lights on the image also appear to be thinner than those on the current model. A sketch that leaked in September 2023 was thought to show the new sedan's front end, but it turned out to be a false alarm.

One thing that is certain is that the next-generation Camry will offer all-wheel-drive and a hybrid drivetrain. The "AWD" and "HEV" emblems on the preview image confirm these options. Currently, the Camry offers both features separately, with the hybrid system only available with front-wheel-drive and the all-wheel-drive system limited to the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.

Toyota has announced that the next-generation Camry will be unveiled on November 14 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, or 7:00 p.m. in California. More details about the sedan may be revealed in the coming days, and there is a possibility of seeing the new Camry in person at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Despite the growing popularity of crossovers, the decision to invest in a new Camry is justified by the sales figures. In 2022, the RAV4 topped Toyota's sales chart with 399,941 units sold, while the Camry came in second with 295,201 sales. Although this is a decrease compared to 2021, when 313,795 Camrys were sold, the sedan remains relatively popular. It even outsold other models like the Corolla, Tacoma, and the entire Lexus division.
