6 Futuristic Electric Vehicles
【Summary】This article highlights six production electric vehicles (EVs) that have futuristic designs. The featured EVs include the Aptera Solar Car, BMW iX, GMC Hummer EV, HiPhi Z, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Tesla Cybertruck. These EVs break from traditional designs and incorporate unique features. As the electric age progresses, designers have more freedom to create innovative and unconventional vehicle designs.
When automakers design new electric vehicles, they have the choice to stick with conventional designs or create something completely unique. While there are more EVs with traditional designs, it's worth highlighting the models that break from the norm. Here are some of the coolest-looking futuristic EVs that are available or coming soon.
First on the list is the Aptera Solar Car, a two-seater, three-wheeler solar EV. Its design focuses on aerodynamics and lightweight construction, giving it a futuristic and unique appearance. The production model, set to launch in early 2024, starts at $25,900.
Next up is the BMW iX electric SUV, known for its controversial design. With minimalist features and a reinterpretation of traditional BMW design elements, the iX gives off a science fiction movie vibe. Starting at $87,100, it's definitely a head-turner.
The GMC Hummer EV stands out with its oversized toy-like appearance. The designers incorporated familiar Hummer and Humvee details with a futuristic twist, resulting in a capable off-road vehicle with a starting price of over $85,000. Its road presence is unmatched, thanks to its 1,000 horsepower output.
China's Human Horizons HiPhi Z takes the crown for the craziest design. With a hatchback-like body style, a narrow greenhouse, and over 4,000 LEDs, it's hard to categorize this unique EV. Priced around €100,000, it's available for order in select markets.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 brings back the streamliner body style with a cutting-edge look. Designed with airflow in mind, its low nose and rear end are complemented by separate spoilers for added downforce. Starting at $45,000, it offers a visually balanced design.
No futuristic EV list would be complete without the Tesla Cybertruck. Its angular shapes and unpainted stainless steel body give it a distinct appearance that fits right into a sci-fi movie. Tesla promises it will be one of the most capable electric pickups on the market, starting at $39,990 in 2024.
With the advent of electric vehicles, designers have more freedom to be creative. As cars no longer need to accommodate combustion engines or complicated cooling systems, we can expect to see even wilder designs in the future. As cars evolve to perform advanced tasks like autonomous driving and powering homes, the possibilities are endless.
