August 2023 Kia global sales report

Kia Corporation reported a 5.2 percent increase in global sales for August 2023, with a total of 255,481 units sold. Excluding special purpose vehicles, sales outside of Korea were up 5.8 percent from the previous year, reaching 212,882 units. In the Korean market, Kia recorded 42,225 unit sales, representing a 2.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The sales momentum for Kia was driven by its SUV models, with the Sportage leading the way by selling 41,376 units in August. Following closely behind were the Seltos and Sorento SUV models, which sold 31,647 and 21,498 units respectively.
Looking specifically at sales outside of Korea, Kia experienced a 5.8 percent increase compared to August of the previous year, with 212,882 units sold. The Sportage SUV was the top-selling model in markets outside of Korea, with 36,166 units sold. It was followed by the Seltos SUV, which sold 28,135 units, and the K3 (known as Forte outside of Korea), which sold 17,702 units.
In the Korean market, Kia sold 42,225 units in August, representing a 2.4 percent increase from the same period last year. The Sorento SUV was the best-selling model in Kia's home market, with sales of 7,176 units. The Sportage SUV and Carnival MPV followed closely behind, with sales of 5,210 and 4,937 units respectively.
Kia has plans to continue its sales momentum in the second half of 2023 with the launch of new models, including the Sorento SUV, K5 sedan, and Carnival MPV. Additionally, the company is set to introduce the EV9, its first three-row seat electric flagship SUV, which is expected to further strengthen Kia's brand proposition in global markets.
