【Summary】Tory donor's five-star hotel, where the Brexit deal was signed, must be demolished or modified due to planning breaches, according to Runnymede Borough Council. The Fairmont Windsor Park Hotel, owned by Surinder Arora, extended without permission. Arora has until October 7 to appeal.
A Tory donor has received a notice from Runnymede Borough Council to demolish all or part of his five-star hotel, which hosted the signing of the Brexit deal. The Fairmont Windsor Park Hotel, owned by Surinder Arora, has breached planning regulations by extending the building without permission. Located in Egham, Surrey, the luxury hotel has now been instructed to tear down the unauthorized extension.
The Windsor Framework, a significant event in February, took place at the hotel. During this event, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen reached an agreement on post-Brexit trading arrangements for Northern Ireland. Mr. Arora, in a statement to the Times newspaper, expressed his willingness to cooperate with Runnymede council and other local stakeholders to find acceptable solutions to the planning concerns raised.
To contest the enforcement notice, Mr. Arora has until October 7th to submit an appeal.
