Today, King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by Princess Anne at the annual Braemar Gathering, held in the Highlands. This event takes place near their summer residence at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire. For his visit, Charles wore a new tartan called the King Charles III tartan, which was designed by the Scottish Tartans Authority to commemorate the coronation. The tartan features shades of green, blue, and red. Queen Camilla, dressed in an outfit by Mr Roy, accompanied Charles, along with Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

John McLeish, chair of the Scottish Tartans Authority, expressed his gratitude for the creation of the King Charles III tartan, stating that tartan is an integral part of Scottish culture and heritage. He also mentioned that Charles serves as an ambassador for tartan, Highland Dress, and Highland traditions. McLeish considered it a great privilege to witness the King wearing the tartan for the first time at Braemar.

Traditionally, the monarch becomes the chief of the Braemar Gathering, although Charles has not yet been announced as such. The royal family has a fondness for this event and even used a photograph from last year's games for one of their Christmas cards. During the gathering, Charles presented trophies to the winning competitors, who participated in various sports like shot put and tug-of-war.

Last year, on September 8, Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, passed away peacefully at Balmoral at the age of 96 after reigning for 70 years. Charles and Camilla are expected to privately commemorate the first anniversary of her death at their Balmoral estate.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is set to return to the UK to attend a charity awards ceremony on the eve of the first anniversary of the Queen's death. The ceremony, organized by WellChild, aims to celebrate the achievements and resilience of seriously ill youngsters and their families. Although Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, will join him at the Invictus Games, she is not expected to attend the opening ceremony. The games, which support wounded military personnel and veterans, will take place in Dusseldorf, Germany, starting on September 9.

As we mark the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's passing, OK! has released a special collector's edition to honor her incredible life and legacy. The magazine includes insights from royal experts, who discuss how the family's summer in Balmoral has been affected by her absence. It also features rarely seen images from her remarkable reign.

Meghan Markle will join Prince Harry at the Invictus Games, although she is likely to arrive after the opening ceremony. Participants from around the world will compete in this international sporting event, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are thrilled to attend the Invictus Games 2023 in Dusseldorf.
