Two people have tragically died and another pedestrian has been seriously injured after a series of crashes in Coventry. The first incident occurred at around 8am on Gosford Street, where a pedestrian was struck by a car. Shortly after, on Woodway Lane, a cyclist was hit by another car. Both the pedestrian and the cyclist succumbed to their injuries. Another pedestrian was also seriously injured in one of the collisions.

Following the crashes, the car involved in the incidents crashed into a house on Beckbury Road. In response to the situation, police deployed drones and dog handlers to the scene. At approximately 9am, a 33-year-old man was detained on Beckbury Road and is currently being questioned by authorities in relation to the collisions.

A statement from the police explained: "We were called to Gosford Street, Coventry at around 8am to reports that three people, including two pedestrians and a cyclist, had been seriously injured. A 44-year-old pedestrian and a cyclist sadly died from their injuries. Another pedestrian is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries."

The police superintendent, Ronan Tyrer, expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragic incidents. He emphasized that the investigations are still in the early stages and multiple scenes across Coventry will be closed for an extended period of time. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigations.
