Electric Juke concept reveals striking Nissan design

The Nissan Hyper Punk is an innovative electric crossover that aims to showcase the future design direction of the Japanese company's EVs. Unveiled at the Tokyo motor show, this Juke-sized crossover is described as "functional and stylish," blending virtual and physical features to appeal to a style-focused audience.

As the fourth and final member of Nissan's Hyper concept family, the Hyper Punk follows the Hyper Adventure SUV, Hyper Urban crossover, and Hyper Tourer MPV. It incorporates vehicle-to-grid charging technology, origami-inspired styling cues, and AI-powered mood-sensing technology. The lighting and music automatically adjust based on the driver's mood.

The styling of the Hyper Punk goes against minimalist design, serving as a statement of intent for Nissan's upcoming electric cars. Its sharp-edged silhouette and squat proportions are accentuated by bold 23-inch alloy wheels and polygonal front and rear lights.

While Nissan has not confirmed if any of the 'Hyper' concepts will directly evolve into production cars, the company has announced plans to launch 19 new electric cars globally by 2030. These concepts, including the Hyper Punk, pave the way for electric successors to the Serena, Juke, Qashqai, and X-Trail.

The Nissan Hyper Tourer concept, which rivals the Volvo EM90, is designed to feature fully autonomous capability, high-density solid-state batteries, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, and a strong focus on aerodynamics. Its aero-optimized exterior design features a flat-sided body with sharp lines and chiseled front and rear bumpers. The wheels have been designed to minimize drag, and the vehicle does not have door mirrors. A white strip along the high waistline morphs into the daytime-running light at the front.

The interior of the Hyper Tourer combines technology with the essence of "omotenashi" (Japanese hospitality) and has been developed with long-distance travel in mind. The high-density batteries are packaged to maximize interior space and keep the center of gravity low for smoother acceleration and braking.
