Electric sports car teased for Tokyo reveal

Subaru is giving a sneak peek at what could be the highlight of its display at the 2023 Tokyo Mobility Show. While details are scarce, the Subaru Sport Mobility Concept is expected to be a vehicle that will excite enthusiasts.

Described by Subaru as an electric vehicle designed for fun, the Sport Mobility Concept represents an evolution of the brand's sporting intentions. Its sleek profile sets it apart from typical electric crossovers.

Upon brightening the teaser image, it becomes apparent that the vehicle may feature a glass canopy. This design element brings to mind the unique window-in-window style of the 1991-96 SVX. The windshield area seems to have an illuminated section, likely housing Subaru's EyeSight safety sensors and cameras for advanced driver assistance features.

Further examination of the teaser image reveals muscular fenders with a distinctive hexagonal shape, reminiscent of other Subaru models like the WRX. Unlike the typical black plastic cladding, these fenders appear to be body-colored.

The front of the Sport Mobility Concept showcases two thin LED headlights and wider openings for driving or rally lights. The hood is adorned with an illuminated Subaru badge, which pays homage to the brand's logo representing the Pleiades constellation.

As automakers rush to embrace electric vehicles, most have focused on crossovers, trucks, and luxury cars. The question remains: which manufacturer will be the first to introduce an electric compact sports coupe for driving enthusiasts? Hopefully, the Subaru Sport Mobility concept will not disappoint and turn out to be more than just a concept.
