Epic Transformation: Mercedes-Benz 190E Becomes C 111 Art Car

Mercedes-Benz has continued to explore the C 111 nameplate, even after fifty years since its debut. Recently, the German automaker introduced a contemporary version of the experimental concept, following the unveiling of the One-Eleven Concept. This new iteration of the C 111 art car was based on the 190E (W201), which is considered the grandfather of the C-Class.

The C 111 art car made its debut at the 38th Festival de'Hyeres in France, where Mercedes-Benz was presenting its third Sustainability Prize. Alongside the designs of the finalists, a reinterpretation model crafted by Berlin-based sculptor Michael Sailstorfer was showcased. Sailstorfer revealed that the 190E had always been his dream car since his younger days.

The design of the art car exudes a retro-futuristic charm, reminiscent of the iconic DMC DeLorean made famous by the Back to the Future film trilogy.
