Ford Transit Custom Wins Parkers Commercial Vehicle Award in 2024

Ford has achieved multiple wins in the inaugural Parkers Van and Pickup Awards. The renowned UK commercial vehicle brand not only took home the Commercial Vehicle of The Year award with the all-new Transit Custom, but also secured the titles of Best Medium Van and Best Electric Van with the E-Transit. Additionally, Ford's Ranger was recognized as the Best Pickup, further adding to the brand's success.

The van and pickup market in Britain is experiencing substantial growth, with 10 consecutive months of positive performance. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) predicts annual sales to reach 332,000 registrations. In contrast to the Parkers New Car Awards 2024, the Parkers Van and Pickup Awards 2024 features a separate category for electric vans due to the continued prevalence of diesel in this market.

The all-new Ford Transit Custom has been declared the best van available in the UK in 2024. Not only did it win the prestigious Commercial Vehicle of The Year award, but it also triumphed in the Best Medium Van category. The Transit Custom's innovative features and distinctiveness set it apart from its competitors in the market.

Tom Webster, Deputy Head of the Digital Automotive Hub and Vans Editor, praised the Transit Custom, stating that it surpasses its predecessor by incorporating advanced technology, driver assistance systems, and an exceptional range of interior equipment. Webster concluded that the Transit Custom has improved upon an already outstanding product.

In the large van category, the Ford Transit secured its second consecutive win. Its success is attributed not only to its impressive load capacity but also to its car-like driving experience, comfort, and overall usability. Additionally, the Transit offers excellent in-car technology, a wide range of models, and is widely regarded as the best large van on the market.

Webster commended the Transit, highlighting its comprehensive features, including front-, rear-, and four-wheel drive options, strong dealer support, and the expanding Ford Pro proposition. He emphasized that the Transit is an exceptional all-rounder and continues to justify its position as the most renowned name in commercial vehicles.

Taking home the Best Pickup award, the Ford Ranger was praised for its exceptional driving experience, impressive interior, and increased space compared to its predecessor. It offers versatility for those who require both passenger transportation and heavy load-carrying capabilities. Webster stated that the Ranger sets a new benchmark and solidifies its position as the top pickup currently available.

However, Ford did not achieve a clean sweep of the awards. The Toyota Proace City was named the Best Small Van due to its similarities to other leading models such as the Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Doblo, Peugeot Partner, and Vauxhall Combo. The Proace City stood out thanks to its 10-year warranty and industry-leading dealer network, providing added security and value to its owners.
