Ford unveils latest campervan model

The all-new Transit Custom Nugget campervan, developed in collaboration between Ford and German campervan specialist Westfalia, is based on the recently revealed Transit Custom. It features a sophisticated independent rear suspension system, which not only provides a more car-like driving experience but also offers the option of all-wheel drive, making it suitable for off-road conditions.

The interior of the Nugget campervan has been carefully designed by Westfalia to meet the needs of customers. The central space within the cabin is modular and serves as the cooking, seating, and sleeping areas. It can accommodate double beds while still allowing movement within the cabin.

The kitchen has a new L-shaped layout and comes with an integrated drawer fridge, induction hob, and sink. The cabinets now have damped closing mechanisms to reduce rattles while on the move. The campervan also features front seats that can rotate 180 degrees when parked and a second row that can accommodate three passengers, allowing a total of five passengers to travel.

The Nugget campervan offers various technological features to enhance the camping experience. It has a tilting Dormer roof with a self-folding fabric section and the option to flip up the end piece of the mattress to increase headroom above the kitchen section. There is also a solar roof option that charges the on-board battery and provides off-grid electricity without the need for a generator.

To stay connected, the Nugget campervan offers hi-tech connectivity features such as a 5G modem and remote WiFi. It also has a seven-inch touchscreen to control the on-board mood lighting, cabin heating, water, and battery levels.

The Nugget campervan will be available to order from Ford showrooms in the Autumn of this year, with first deliveries scheduled for the spring of 2024. Ford will also introduce plug-in hybrid models of the Nugget within the next 12 months.

While the Nugget campervan is an exciting addition to the market, it's not the only new camper available. Keep an eye out for the upcoming Volkswagen California as well.
