Ford of Europe is teasing a new camper van that is set to be unveiled on August 24. The company is embracing the "VanLife" trend and promises to make outdoor trips an experience of a lifetime. The teaser videos show glimpses of the exterior, including a sliding side window and a pop-up roof with a solar panel. With the roof raised, there is enough room to stand inside the van.
The interior features classy counters, a refrigerated drawer, zippered window coverings, and a rear touchscreen display for adjusting the color changing lighting system. There also appears to be a sink and an external shower head or washer. The model remains a mystery, but it could be the redesigned Transit Custom Nugget based on the timing and the rear quarter glass indicating its relation to the Transit Custom. The redesigned van was introduced last September, and the camper van variant is expected to debut at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon.
The Transit Custom is available with various powertrain options, including EcoBlue diesels with outputs ranging from 108 hp to 168 hp. There are also plug-in hybrid and electric variants. Full details of the camper van will be revealed soon.
