Kia EV5 SUV production version unveiled
【Summary】Kia has revealed the production form of its new EV5 electric SUV, which shares the same platform as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 6. The compact SUV offers chunky styling and promises more practicality than the sleek EV6. While deliveries to the Chinese market are confirmed, it is unclear if the EV5 will be available in the UK. The EV5's design remains true to the concept car, featuring LED daytime running lights and a distinctive grille design.
The Korean car brands, Kia and Hyundai, have been very active in recent years, constantly introducing new models. The latest addition to the lineup is the Kia EV5, which was unveiled at the Chengdu motor show in China.
The EV5 is a compact electric SUV with a design that takes inspiration from the larger seven-seat Kia EV9. It offers a more practical approach compared to the sleek EV6.
While Kia has confirmed that the EV5 will be available in the Chinese market by the end of the year, there is no official word on whether it will be released in the UK. However, given the success of the mid-sized petrol-powered Sportage in the UK, it would be surprising if the EV5 is not offered there.
The design of the production EV5 closely resembles the EV5 concept car showcased earlier this year at the Shanghai Auto Show. It features the brand's 'Opposites United' design language, which can also be seen in the EV9 and the latest Kia Picanto facelift. The front of the EV5 incorporates a series of LED daytime running lights, forming Kia's signature 'Tiger Face' grille design.
