Futuristic EV Concepts by Student Designer

The automotive industry is currently undergoing a transformative period, leading to the development of innovative vehicles and mobility solutions. This has inspired designers to explore new realms of creativity.

Two independent design studies, known as the Volkswagen ID.ORB and ID.PRISM, have been created as proposals for future electric vehicles within the VW lineup. These concepts aim to introduce fresh and innovative elements to the market.

The designer behind these concepts is Sean Keunyoung Oh, a senior design student at the Korea National University of Arts. Sean developed these designs during an internship program at Volkswagen, emphasizing the harmony between creativity and functionality. The ID.ORB is envisioned as a spiritual successor to the Beetle, while the ID.PRISM draws inspiration from the VW XL1's heritage. Despite their compact nature, the designs exhibit significant differences.

Starting with the VW ID.PRISM, it takes the form of a sporty two-door model. The front end stands out with its pointed shape, absence of a conventional grille, and slim LED headlights. The vehicle features an expansive glass canopy that extends from the windshield to the roof and doors. With a 2+2 seating arrangement, this concept has the potential to be an attractive electric sports car.

On the other hand, the ID.ORB has two doors and a slightly more upright design, offering a more spacious cabin. It showcases a friendly-looking face with narrow headlights and large air curtains for the front brakes. While it ditches the glass doors of the ID.PRISM, it still features an intriguing glass cockpit. The ID.ORB also has four seats, with the front seats resembling lounge chairs.
