Hyundai partners with Amazon to sell cars, marking a historic milestone

Hyundai has announced that it will be the first car brand to sell new vehicles on Amazon, as the company aims to combine its traditional dealer network with a new direct-to-customer approach. The partnership with Amazon was revealed during the LA Auto Show, and Hyundai plans to start selling cars through Amazon's US website in the second half of next year. Other brands are expected to follow suit in the future, although it is unclear if the option will be available in other regions.

Earlier this year, Hyundai was one of 15 brands that did not respond to a survey on agency sales. However, the company is now adopting a blended approach that combines its existing dealer network with new direct-to-customer options. Amazon's goal with this partnership is to make it easier for customers to purchase vehicles online.

As part of the deal, Hyundai will integrate Amazon's voice assistant, Alexa, into its new cars starting from 2025. According to an Amazon spokesperson, customers will be able to search for available vehicles in their area on Amazon's website, based on various preferences such as model, trim, color, and features. They can then choose their preferred car and complete the purchase online using their preferred payment and financing options.
