JLTV production extended with new Oshkosh orders

Oshkosh Defense has secured a significant order worth US$208 million for Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), trailers, and related kits for the US Army, USMC, and USAF. This order reinforces the company's position as a key supplier to the military.

In March 2023, it was announced that AM General had won the recompete contract for manufacturing JLTVs, with deliveries scheduled to begin in late 2024. Despite this, Oshkosh has expressed its intention to continue producing JLTVs if possible, highlighting the demand for their proven vehicles.

Oshkosh Defense emphasized its commitment to manufacturing by stating that it has received orders or commitments for JLTVs from eight international customers. The company plans to make the reliable Oshkosh JLTV available through Direct Commercial Sales and intends to produce JLTVs into the first quarter of fiscal year 2025.

George Mansfield, Vice President and General Manager of Defense Programs at Oshkosh Defense, explained the company's decision to continue manufacturing. Mansfield stated, "We have dedicated the past decade to learning, improving processes, establishing a robust supply chain, and assembling a world-class team of experts to design and produce the most reliable light tactical vehicle in the industry."

Oshkosh Defense has been actively innovating the design of the JLTV. In January 2022, the company unveiled a hybrid-electric drive version called eJLTV. This development showcases Oshkosh's commitment to incorporating advanced technologies into their vehicles. Furthermore, in October 2022, Oshkosh displayed an improved version of the JLTV, featuring a Kongsberg Remote Weapon Station (RWS) and a side-mounted Javelin launcher. These enhancements demonstrate Oshkosh's continuous efforts to enhance the capabilities of their vehicles.
