This is the astonishing moment when a Kia Stonic worth £25,000 suddenly caught fire while driving along a road. The incident occurred in Luton on Friday, just a short distance from Luton airport where a massive fire had recently destroyed a brand new £20 million parking structure. Workers from a waste management company who were traveling behind the car noticed the flames and immediately alerted the two passengers inside.

In a dramatic video, the workers can be seen hastily getting out of their vehicle and shouting at the driver and passenger to exit the car. The male passenger, wearing a red T-shirt, quickly retrieves something from the trunk before moving out of harm's way. Meanwhile, the flames continue to grow from underneath the white Kia Stonic.

It is worth noting that Luton has had its fair share of car fires, including the recent incident at the airport where 1,500 cars were destroyed after a car exploded in the new parking structure. The workers from Boxell Removals, clearly aware of the danger, honked their horn and urgently warned the passengers to leave their burning vehicle. One of the workers even ran towards the car when they encountered traffic, ensuring that the passengers were aware of the dangerous situation.

As the fire raged on, the pair stood by the side of Crawley Green Road, watching as the flames consumed their car. Fortunately, the police arrived soon after and stopped traffic in both directions. Firefighters also arrived on the scene to combat the inferno. According to the DVLA website, the car was listed as being petrol.

A spokesperson from Boxell Removals commented on the incident, stating, "Friday the 13th was not kind to this couple." The incident left locals shocked, with one resident named Alfie Clarke remarking, "Luton seems to have a strange relationship with cars catching fire." Another person wondered how such an event could occur, while someone named Robyn admitted that they had only just discovered that cars on fire don't explode like they do in movies. Another individual named Becky humorously mentioned that if it were her, she would have grabbed her shopping before evacuating the car. However, she expressed relief that the passengers were safe.

A spokesperson from the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provided details of the incident, stating, "On Friday, 13 October at around 14.24pm, we received reports of a vehicle on fire on Crawley Green Road, Luton. One fire engine from Luton attended the incident, and firefighters utilized breathing apparatus, hose reels, and a thermal imaging camera to safely extinguish the fire. Bedfordshire Police implemented a scene safety zone in coordination with the fire service. Fire Control received five repeat calls regarding this incident."
