Kia's August 2023 global sales report

Kia Corporation reported a 5.2 percent year-over-year increase in global sales for August 2023, with a total of 255,481 units sold. Excluding special purpose vehicles, sales outside of Korea were up 5.8 percent to 212,882 units, while sales in the Korean market saw a 2.4 percent increase to 42,225 units.
The company's SUV models were the driving force behind the sales growth, with the Sportage leading the pack at 41,376 units sold in August. The Seltos and Sorento SUV models followed closely behind, with 31,647 and 21,498 units sold, respectively.
In markets outside of Korea, the Sportage SUV continued to dominate sales, with 36,166 units sold. The Seltos SUV came in second with 28,135 units sold, followed by the K3 (known as Forte outside of Korea) with 17,702 units sold.
In the Korean market, Kia's sales reached 42,225 units in August, representing a 2.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The Sorento SUV led the company's sales in its home market, with 7,176 units sold. The Sportage SUV and Carnival MPV followed with sales of 5,210 and 4,937 units, respectively.
Kia has plans to maintain its sales momentum in the second half of 2023 with the launch of new models, including the Sorento SUV, K5 sedan, and Carnival MPV. Additionally, the company is set to introduce its first three-row seat electric flagship SUV, the EV9, which will further strengthen its brand proposition in global markets.

It is important to note that these figures are based on wholesale and are unaudited and preliminary. Special purpose vehicle sales are now recorded separately, and they include various specialized vehicles sold in both the Korean and overseas markets.
