Missing poet Gboyega Odubanjo's body discovered

Police in Northamptonshire have announced that a body has been found in the search for missing poet Gboyega Odubanjo. The 27-year-old was last seen on August 27 at the Shambala festival, where he was scheduled to give a reading of his work. He had attended the festival with friends but became separated from them around 4am on Saturday.

The body was discovered at 9am today during a specialized search of the area surrounding Kelmarsh Hall, where the festival took place. While formal identification has not yet taken place, Mr. Odubanjo's family has been notified and is receiving support. The poet's work had been featured in publications such as the Guardian, the Poetry Review, and the New Statesman. He was also pursuing a PhD in creative writing at the University of Hertfordshire.

Authorities have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell expressed condolences to the family and asked for privacy to be respected. He also thanked all those involved in the search efforts, including volunteer members of Northamptonshire Search and Rescue and specialist search-trained officers from other forces.

The search efforts included the use of search dogs, trained police search advisers, neighborhood and response officers, a police dive team, and volunteer members of Northamptonshire Search and Rescue. Northamptonshire Police will now prepare a file for the coroner.
