Munro presents revolutionary electric vehicles at East Kilbride event

MUNRO Vehicles, a manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, recently hosted MSP Graham Simpson at its headquarters to showcase the first vehicles entering production. The company organized an open day in East Kilbride, where 61 investors, deposit holders, and fans were given tours of the workshops where the initial customer vehicles are being manufactured.

During the visit, a Q&A session was held with the company's founders. Visitors had the opportunity to ask questions about various topics, including production schedules and the wading capabilities of the MK_1 electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle.

The first two customer vehicles being hand-built in the East Kilbride site are Founder Editions. The black truck is being constructed to Munro's Range specification, equipped with 220kW of power, 600Nm of torque, an estimated range of 190 miles, and a 2.5-tonne braked towing weight. The second vehicle is a gloss-white pick-up built in ultimate specification Performance guise. It features a 280kW battery, 700Nm of torque, a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and an estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is considered a "ground-breaking" solution that combines the reliability and repairability of a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with an electric powertrain, resulting in zero tailpipe emissions. The vehicle's rear bed can accommodate a 1,050kg Euro Pallet payload, while the Performance model boasts a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various purposes such as hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.

With over 250 pre-orders received for both the truck and pick-up models, Munro is poised to take advantage of the significant global market opportunity. The company is nearing completion of its first two production models, supported by financial partners.

Graham Simpson MSP, a member of the Scottish Parliament sustainable transport and renewable energy and energy efficiency cross-party groups, expressed his fascination with Munro Vehicles and its contribution as Scotland's first volume automotive manufacturer in over four decades.

Munro CEO and co-founder Russell Peterson expressed pride in showcasing the engineering and passion behind these remarkable all-terrain electric vehicles. He was pleased to welcome MSP Graham Simpson to the company's headquarters and demonstrate Scottish innovation in sustainable transport.
