【Summary】Munro Vehicles has unveiled its first all-electric 4x4, the Munro MK_1. The vehicles, which are hand-built in Scotland, feature clean-sheet designs and are engineered for 50 years of service. The black truck model has 220kW of power, a 190-mile range, and a 2.5-tonne towing weight, while the pick-up model has a 280kW battery, a 190-mile range, and a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
Munro Vehicles has started production on its first all-electric 4x4, which is also the first light vehicle to be made in Scotland in over four decades. The company's East Kilbride headquarters has hand-built the first two customer vehicles, known as the Munro MK_1 founder editions. These vehicles were designed from scratch and engineered to last for 50 years.
The first vehicle is a black truck with 220kW of power and 600Nm of torque. It has an estimated range of 190 miles and a towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes. The second vehicle is a pick-up with a 280kW battery, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, and an estimated range of 190 miles.
The Munro MK_1 is an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle that combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with an advanced electric powertrain, resulting in zero tailpipe emissions. It has a spacious rear bed that can hold a 1050kg Euro pallet payload. The performance model of the vehicle has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various purposes such as hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.
The Munro MK_1 comes in utility, performance, and range variants to cater to different needs. It has a peak power output of 375kW and 700Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds.
The vehicle is equipped with an 82.4kWh battery that can be rapidly recharged from 15% to 80% capacity in 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, enabling up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.
Munro has already received more than 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models. The company is targeting sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense.
Russell Peterson, the CEO and co-founder of Munro, expressed his pride in sharing the engineering and passion that went into building these remarkable all-terrain electric vehicles.
