Munro Vehicles' electric 4x4 enters production

Munro Vehicles has announced that their first all-electric 4x4 has entered production, marking the first light vehicle to be made in Scotland in over four decades.

The first two Munro MK_1 customer vehicles have been hand-built at the company's East Kilbride headquarters. These vehicles are founder editions that have been designed from scratch and engineered to provide 50 years of service.

The first vehicle is a black truck with 220kW of power and 600Nm of torque. It has an estimated range of 190 miles and a towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes when braked.

The second vehicle is a pick-up built for ultimate performance. It features a 280kW battery, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, and an estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle that combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with a state-of-the-art electric powertrain, ensuring zero tailpipe emissions.

It has a spacious rear bed that can accommodate a 1050kg Euro pallet payload. The performance model of the vehicle has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various purposes such as hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.

The Munro MK_1 offers different variants to cater to different needs, including utility, performance, and range models. It has a peak power output of 375kW combined with 700Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate to 60mph in 4.9 seconds.

The vehicle is equipped with an 82.4kWh battery that can be rapidly recharged from 15% to 80% capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, allowing for up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.

Munro has already received more than 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models. The company is targeting sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defence.

Munro CEO and co-founder Russell Peterson expressed his pride in being able to share the engineering and passion that went into building these all-terrain electric vehicles.
