Munro's initial batch of vehicles almost finished

Munro Vehicles, a Scottish manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, is making significant progress in completing its first vehicles for customers. The factory in East Kilbride has received over 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models, and the company expects volume to increase from target markets in mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense.

To showcase their progress, Munro Vehicles invited 61 investors, deposit holders, and supporters to witness the production of the first light vehicle in Scotland in over four decades. Conservative MSP Graham Simpson, who is involved in sustainable transport and energy efficiency, expressed his excitement about Munro's potential impact on Scotland's future. He believes that the all-electric 4x4s could provide a solution for sectors such as agriculture, forestry, and wind turbine management, which are challenging to decarbonize. Simpson also emphasized the job creation potential of Munro becoming a key employer in the region.

Russell Peterson, the CEO and Co-Founder of Munro, expressed his pride in the engineering and passion that goes into building these all-terrain electric vehicles. He was pleased to welcome MSP Graham Simpson and showcase Scottish innovation in sustainable transport.

The first two customer vehicles, known as Founder Editions, are currently being hand-built at Munro's headquarters in East Kilbride. The first vehicle is a truck built to Munro's Range specification, offering 220kW of power, 600Nm of torque, an estimated range of 190 miles, and a 2.5-tonne braked towing weight. The second vehicle is a pick-up with a 280kW battery, 700Nm of torque, a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and an estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is equipped with an 82.4kWh battery that can be rapidly recharged from 15% to 80% capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, allowing for up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.
