Nissan's Online Gaming-Inspired EV City Car: Concept 20-23

To celebrate 20 years of its Nissan Design Europe (NDE) studio based in London, Nissan has unveiled the Concept 20-23 car, a bold and futuristic all-electric hot hatch. NDE, known for its global and European market projects, has played a crucial role in designing successful models like the Qashqai and Juke. However, the Concept 20-23 represents a departure from their usual focus, allowing the designers to blend Nissan's small hatchback heritage with a vision of the ultimate urban car of the future.

While the Concept 20-23 is currently just a design concept, it is clearly influenced by Nissan's upcoming all-electric Micra, which will share its platform with the new Renault 5 set to be released next year. Design elements such as the oversized circular lighting signature and the car's silhouette are clearly inspired by the next-generation Micra, which is expected to arrive in 2024 after the Renault 5. However, the Concept 20-23 takes a more experimental approach, featuring prominent aerodynamic elements and numerous extreme details.

Drawing inspiration from Nissan's Formula E racer, the concept car has only two doors compared to the future production model's four. This unique design choice allows the brand's designers to incorporate two large air intakes into the rear window openings. These intakes flow seamlessly into a wraparound rear screen, which is detached from the roof-mounted rear wing. The rear wing and roof are finished in a contrasting black color, creating a striking visual contrast with the lighter bodywork.
