Nissan's upcoming electric vehicles may also function as sofas.
【Summary】Nissan is set to unveil a series of radical concept cars at the Japan Motor show, starting with the Hyper Urban concept. The crossover design features a sophisticated exterior with scissor doors, and a futuristic interior with four individual seats that can be transformed into a sofa-like space. The concept highlights the car's ability to power homes and the grid through its Vehicle to Home (V2H) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) capabilities.
Nissan is gearing up to unveil a series of innovative concept cars at the Japan Motor show later this month. The first concept in this lineup is the Hyper Urban concept, an electric vehicle (EV) that aims to bring heightened excitement to its users.
The exterior of the Hyper Urban concept is sharp and spiky, with chromatic paint that subtly changes hues and eye-catching wheels. The car also features scissor doors that open wide for easy access to the interior.
Inside the vehicle, Nissan designers have created a unique and funky space. There are four individual seats that resemble Business Class travel, with passengers in the back enjoying a large, swiveling display for entertainment purposes. The front seats can also collapse and fold into the back seats, creating a sofa-like, private relaxing space with footrests.
While it may be unlikely for the car to be driven into a loft apartment or bungalow, this design feature draws attention to the Hyper Urban concept's Vehicle to Home (V2H) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) capabilities. The car's battery packs can be used to power a home or provide surplus energy back to the grid, offering efficient management of power.
Nissan has already implemented this technology in some of its EVs, using them to power homes during natural disasters. This suggests that future electric vehicles from the brand may also feature this technology.
Although it is unlikely that the Hyper Urban concept will make it to production with its current styling cues, it, along with other recent concepts from Nissan, indicates a more radical design direction for future cars.
