Renault 5 EV Revives the Spirit

The Renault Zoe has experienced significant growth and success before reaching its peak and ultimately fading away, much like the character Walter White from the TV show Breaking Bad. However, the current version of the Renault Zoe boasts impressive features such as increased power, a range of over 200 miles on a single charge, a modern and high-quality interior, making it one of the top small electric vehicles on the market.

Renault has adopted a strategy of continuous improvement for the Zoe, similar to the "Trigger's Broom" concept. This approach involves enhancing various aspects of the vehicle, including a larger battery, improved infotainment system, and better cabin materials. By focusing on improving the existing model rather than creating an entirely new car, Renault has managed to keep the price competitive. As a result, a brand new 2023 model Zoe can be purchased for less than £30,000, offering a modern and stylish alternative to other electric vehicles like the Vauxhall Corse Electric.

The success of the Renault Zoe is evident, as it was the best-selling electric vehicle in Europe in 2020 and remains one of the top-selling EVs of all time, only surpassed by the Nissan Leaf and a few Tesla models. However, despite its achievements, the time has come for the Zoe to be retired. Fortunately, it will be replaced by an exciting new model, the Renault 5 Electric, which has the potential to become the coolest small EV ever produced.

The original Renault 5, which was introduced in 1972 and lasted for two generations over a span of approximately 12 years each, was a beloved small car known for its affordability, efficiency, and distinct French charm. The Turbo version of the Renault 5, designed for rallying purposes, remains one of the most thrilling and unconventional small cars ever manufactured.
