Ruf CTR 3 Evo: A Tuner's Powerhouse
【Summary】German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist Ruf has unveiled the CTR 3 Evo, its most powerful car yet. It features a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat six engine, producing 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. The body is made from a lightweight Kevlar-composite material, and the car comes with various upgrades to suspension, brakes, and lubrication system. The price of the CTR 3 Evo is over $725,000, making it more expensive than comparable Porsche and Ferrari models.
German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist Ruf has recently introduced the CTR 3 Evo, which is their most powerful car to date. This new model was unveiled at Monterey Car Week and offers a completely redesigned and heavily upgraded experience. While it is based on the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport, it is a separate proposition in its own right.
Under the hood, the CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine. This powerhouse produces an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque, surpassing the Clubsport's output by 23bhp and 8lb ft. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.
The car showcased in the pictures comes with Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, since the Clubsport can also be equipped with a six-speed manual, it is possible that the Evo will offer this option as well.
The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed using a Kevlar-composite material, similar to the lightweight and durable Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material provides strength, heat resistance, and contributes to the car's overall performance.
While the exact top speed and 0-62mph time of the Evo are not yet known, it is expected to be faster than the Clubsport, which can reach a top speed of 236mph and accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
In addition to engine upgrades, the CTR 3 Evo also features modifications to its suspension system. The MacPherson-strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension have been enhanced to deliver optimal performance. Carbon-ceramic brakes and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system, similar to those found in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06, further enhance the car's capabilities.
Inside the cabin, the CTR 3 Evo boasts one-piece body-hugging sports seats made from carbonfibre. These seats are upholstered in Alcantara and feature contrasting yellow stitching, adding a touch of sportiness and luxury.
Enthusiasts interested in purchasing the CTR 3 Evo can expect a price tag of over $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3, which occupies a similar position in the market, as well as the equally potent Ferrari SF90.
