The explosion occurred on Monday night on the outskirts of Makhachkala, the capital of the southern Republic of Dagestan. The blast caused a fire that started at a nearby car repair shop and spread to the gas station. The subsequent fire covered an area of approximately 600 square meters.

Out of the 105 people injured in the incident, 35 people ultimately succumbed to their injuries. Tragically, three of the deceased were children. Some of the injured individuals were airlifted to Moscow for treatment.
