The fourth-generation Skoda Superb has undergone some changes, both under the skin and in the cabin, while maintaining a similar appearance to its predecessor. The new model offers even more space, with the Hatchback and Estate versions being longer and taller than before. The Hatchback is 4,912mm long and 1,481mm tall, while the Estate is 4,902mm long and 1,482mm tall. Both versions are 15mm narrower at 1,849mm. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,841mm. The interior of the Superb has also been improved, with increased headroom and a more spacious boot.

The Mk4 Superb may not look drastically different from the Mk3, but it boasts improved aerodynamics. The Hatchback has a coefficient of drag figure of 0.23, making it 10% more aerodynamic than its predecessor, while the Estate has a figure of 0.25, representing a 15% improvement. Skoda was hesitant to make significant aesthetic changes due to the popularity of the Mk3 Superb, with over 845,000 units sold. The new model features Skoda's new corporate grille and LED Matrix headlights for certain models, as well as new body colors and alloy wheel options.

The cabin of the Superb Mk4 is technologically advanced, with a large 13-inch central touchscreen infotainment system and a ten-inch digital instrument cluster. The car offers a head-up display and a gearshift selector on the steering column. Sustainable materials are used throughout the interior, and the top-end L&K model offers cognac leather upholstery. The Superb also includes 28 'Simply Clever' Skoda features, such as Skoda Smart Dials.

The Superb Mk4 will be available with six powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants. The mild-hybrid model combines a 1.5-liter TSI engine with a 48-volt starter-generator and a lithium-ion battery. The plug-in hybrid model, known as the Superb iV, features a 1.5-liter TSI engine, a more powerful electric motor, and a larger battery pack, providing an increased all-electric range of over 62 miles. The Superb iV also supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes.

Other powertrain options include two variants of the 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine and two variants of the 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine. The lower-output versions are front-wheel drive, while the higher-output versions are all-wheel drive. The Superb Mk4 will also offer adaptive dampers and advanced driver assist safety technology.

Pricing and specifications for the UK market have not been announced yet. However, it is speculated that there may be a more powerful variant of the Superb Mk4 in the future, potentially with a V6 engine and PHEV technology. The Superb has been a flagship model for Skoda for over 20 years, and the fourth-generation model aims to offer refined design, spaciousness, and cutting-edge technology.
