Hyundai continues to expand its range in order to cater to the specific needs of customers in Asian markets. One of the latest additions to their lineup is the Hyundai Stargazer X, a new variant of the three-row minivan that features crossover-inspired looks and aims to compete with the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross.

The Stargazer X was recently unveiled at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), one year after the debut of the standard model. While it maintains the single-box proportions and Staria-inspired full-width LEDs of its predecessor, it incorporates some adventurous elements inspired by crossovers and SUVs.

Changes to the front of the Stargazer X include a sculpted bonnet, an expansive grille with a chrome pattern, and black trim around the split headlights with darker bezels. The profile of the vehicle is characterized by generous plastic cladding around the boxy wheel arches and side skirts, along with bi-tone 17-inch wheels and roof rails. At the back, there is a spoiler extension and a redesigned bumper with a prominent skid plate surrounded by unpainted plastic.

The SUV-inspired redesign has resulted in the Stargazer X growing slightly in size. It now measures 4,495 mm (177 inches) in length, 1,815 mm (71.5 inches) in width, and 1,710 mm (67.3 inches) in height. The ground clearance has also been increased by 15 mm (0.6 inches) compared to the standard variant, now standing at 200 mm (7.9 inches). However, despite these changes, the Stargazer X remains a front-wheel-drive-only vehicle.

In terms of mechanical specifications, there are no changes compared to the standard Stargazer. The crossover variant retains the non-electrified naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 113 hp (85 kW / 115 PS) and 144 Nm (106.2 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.

Inside the Stargazer X, the three-row cabin can be configured as a 6-seater or a 7-seater, depending on whether captain seats are chosen for the second row. The interior features amenities such as an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 4.2-inch screen in the instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a Bose audio system, several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and faux leather upholstery with red stitching. In terms of practicality, there is a hidden tray in the dashboard, illuminated cup holders, and pockets and foldable tables on the seatbacks. The boot offers 200 lt (7.1 cubic feet) of cargo space with all seats in place, but this capacity increases to 585 lt (20.7 cubic feet) when the third row is folded.

The Hyundai Stargazer X is already available in Indonesia, with prices starting from Rp. 338,600,000 ($22,160). In comparison, the regular Stargazer starts from as low as Rp. 259,600,000 ($16,990) as it is available in more budget-friendly trims with reduced equipment compared to its crossover sibling.
