Tesla has introduced its Universal Wall Connector, a new charging solution that can conveniently charge any electric vehicle (EV) by featuring both a North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug and an Integrated J1772 adapter. This adapter allows non-Tesla EV owners to utilize the charger. The Universal Wall Connector also offers the ability to view charging history and energy consumption through the Tesla app, a feature that is likely to be appreciated by non-Tesla owners.

The announcement of the Universal Wall Connector was made by Tesla through social media channels. Videos and the product page on the Tesla Shop provide a glimpse into the key feature of the charger, which is the integrated J1772 adapter designed specifically for charging non-Tesla EVs.

Similar to the Magic Dock system used at Tesla Supercharger stations, the Universal Wall Connector boasts several innovative functions. It has a default NACS plug and an integrated J1772 adapter. Additionally, it can add 44 miles of range per hour at an output of 11.5 kW/48 amps. The charger also offers Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling over-the-air software updates.
